Anyone who is serious about search engine optimization can use what I am going to teach you here.

Does that sound like a crazy statement? Am I completely out of my mind? Maybe.

Lesson 5

"The secret to increasing your page rank without
getting more links to your website!
"

It is possible to rank above the #1 position in Google and Yahoo in less than 24 hours! Take a look at this:

Page Rank Plus

We can see the top website was created twenty hours ago. How did it get there in twenty hours?

Lets look at a new strategy to:

  • Get a great many back links in a short period of time.

  • Get great exposure to your website in under 24 hours.

  • Show yourself to be an authority in your market.

  • And get it for free.

This new stratedy is writing Press Releases. Press Releases are not new they have been around for long time.
They have been used effectively in the offline world. They can work well in the online world as well.

You need to learn how to write effective Press Releases before you can use its power.

Let's talk about what a press release is

The definition of a Press Release is:

The announcement of an event or
other newsworthy topic that is issued to the press.

How ido we go about writing something newsworthy in an article and issue it to the press? What is the press anyway? First we start with writing an article that we think people would like to know about.

Your Press Release Structure

This is how you structure your Press Release. If you want the press to pick up your article, you have to structure your Press Release in the right format. You may have great topics but if your format is not correct the press will ignores what you have written.

It takes time to write an press release article so you should make sure you've use the correct format to write it. Below is a press release template to show you how it is done. Use this format so that the press will read your article.

Press Release Format

Headline Is in Title Case and Short, Ideally Not More Than 170 Characters; This Headline Is 138 Characters Long and Does Not Take a Period

While the headline uses title case, capitalizing every word except for prepositions and articles of three words or less, the summary paragraph is a little longer synopsis in regular sentence form. It doesn’t merely repeat the lead. It just tells the story in a different way.

City, State (PRWEB) Month 1, 2005 -- The lead sentence contains the most important information in 25 words or less. Grab your reader’s attention here. And don’t assume that your reader has read your headline or summary paragraph; the lead should stand on its own.

A news release, like a news story, keeps sentences and paragraphs short, about three or four lines per paragraph. The first couple of paragraphs should cover the who, what, when, where, why and how questions.

The rest of the news release expounds on the information provided in the lead paragraph. It includes quotes from key staff, customers or subject matter experts. It contains more details about the news you have to tell, which can be about something unique or controversial or about a prominent person, place or thing.

“The final paragraph of a traditional news release contains the least newsworthy material,” said Mario Bonilla, customer service representative for PR Web™. “But for an online release, it’s typical to restate and summarize the key points with a paragraph like the next one.”

For additional information on the news that is the subject of this release (or for a sample, copy or demo), contact Mary Smith or visit http://www.prweb.com/. You can also include details on product availability, trademark acknowledgment, etc. here.

About XYZ Company:

Include a short corporate backgrounder about the company or the person who is newsworthy before you list the contact person’s name and phone number. Do not include an e-mail address in the body of the release. Your e-mail address goes only in the "Contact e-mail" box when you first upload your press release.

Power Press Release

Now that you know the proper format, you need to think about the following when writing your press release article.

  • A press release should be information about your news. Never use a press release to make a sale. A press release should answer the questions who, what, where, when and why, giving the media useful information about your organization, product, or event. If your press release sounds like an advertisement you need to rewrite it.

  • Your headline and first paragraph should tell the story. The rest of your press release should provide the detail. You have a matter of seconds to grab your reader's attention. Do not blow it with a weak opening.

  • Make sure you avoid exaggerations. Your press release should not contain embellishments If it does you need rewrite it or forget it until you have something real to write about. Journalists are naturally skeptical. Don't hurt your credibility with some thing that sounds to good to be true. Even if it is true.

  • A press release should be timely. Your news should be current if possible. Does your story have a hook? A good story should have a hook.

  • Your writing should be active not passive. In stead of writing "entered into a partnership" use "partnered". You should use strong verbs. Take this example, "The committee exhibited severe hostility over the incident." This could be changed to "The committee was enraged over the incident." This is the kind of press release that will be read.

  • Just use enough words to tell your story. Don't use a lot of unnecessary adjectives like "added bonus" or "first time ever". Use fewer words to tell your story if you can. Just make sure you are not to wordy.

  • Hype like an exclamation point works against you. Hype will kill your credibility.

Now Here Is The Story

This story is about a guy that moved to the top of Google and Yahoo, above
the #1 position in under 24 hours. It took very little work to do this. The keyword he was trying to get a good page
rank for, was one of the most searched keywords in the world at that time.

That would bring some serious traffic to your website.

Here are the key words:

George Bush! In approximately 24 hours, this guy moved to the top of Yahoo and Google for the
keywords "George Bush". This was during the United States elections!

At that time, during the elections, http://www.georgewbush.com/ was using a type of search
engine optimization called cloaking. Because of this cloaking, their website was only viewable by people
living in the United States.

The thing is that Americans studying abroad or living oversees would not be able to view George Bush's website. This created a great opportunity. This guy took advantage of this opportunity and created this website:

http://www.georgedecloaked.com/

This website was a copy of the real George Bush website http://www.georgewbush.com/

This website copy was
accessible to everyone, including people who were outside of the United States.

He decided to advertise this website to let people know that he had solve a problem for them. he decided the best way to do that was to write a Press Release.

You can veiw the press release at:
http://www.emediawire.com/releases/2004/10/emw172880.htm

Here is a copy of that press release:

George Bush DeCloaked

George Bush employs search engine cloaking technique to ban the world London, England (PRWEB) October 29, 2004 -- With the US Presidential elections talking place next week, George Bush re launched his web site but took the decision to alienate the world, using search engine Spam techniques.

Any visitors not from the US are banned from his website. This has been accomplished using cloaking technology, commonly used by spammers trying to manipulate the search engines. In the interests of democracy, StrangeLogic.com, A search engine technology company has made the content available for everyone to view.

Jason Duke, Managing Director of Strange Logic said, “American politics has a huge effect on the world at large and I felt it was only right and proper that citizens of the globe were able to view George’s website. Thankfully, as a Search Engine technology company we are accustomed to such crude cloaking techniques and have developed methodologies to ensure quality for our client base.

These same methods have been used so the world can see the incumbent president’s website.” The site is available at http://www.georgedecloaked.com/ and http://www.georgewbush.org.uk/ About Strange Logic: Strange Logic is a leading Search Engine technology company specialising in increasing their client’s financial bottom line through understanding search engine algorithms.

What did he out of this Press Release that may have taken 30 minutes or less of work to write?

  • Better than #1 listing in Google AND Yahoo!

  • First page in Google and Yahoo news websites.
(The #1 and #2 most visited news resources out there (better than CNN, The BBC and others) they receive crazy amounts of traffic every minute of the day. • The story led to many phone calls from journalists, politicians and prospective partners.

  • A business opportunity worth £84,000 per year for the next 2 years. That is approximately $300,000 for 30 minutes of work.

  • Radio Interviews and print media is not measured yet, but it could increase brand awareness.

  • Links from the approximately 30,000 pages (including multiple PR7 inbounds and 2 PR8s) . This could give you a #1 ranking for just about any keyword.
